Some of my favorite moments in Africa are the worship times. Africans are gifted with strong singing voices. So far I have never heard them sing quietly or without enthusiasm, and I’ve rarely seen them sing without dancing too. Their dancing makes me especially happy because it is such a clear expression of joy in the Lord. But what I really love, is to watch their eyes. I’m telling you the dance is in their eyes! They get this look… This look that says they are happy and expecting to get happier by the second. It’s amazing. And when one pair of dancing eyes meets another, joy jumps into overdrive!
I want the dance to be in my eyes too! I want that kind of expectation in my heart! I want the joy of my salvation to be clearly seen through my eyes. Jesus says in Matt 6:22, Your eyes are windows into your body. If you open your eyes wide in wonder and belief, your body fills up with light.
