Augustine's Church

Some of my favorite stories of how aLn Gospel events impact a community is in the local church. Rarely do we get to see the full impact but here is only one example of the rapid and drastic church growth as a result of the move of God in their town. Pastor Augustine was pastoring in a small town east of Kigali Rwanda ( Kayonza). His church was 4 years old with a congregation of about 30 people. Financially he scrapped by running a few different businesses so he could build his church. He took no salary from the church instead he personally paid for 85% of all the costs for his church's construction.
The first time I went to his church I preached to a group of about 35 people. This was in February of 2010. The music was lively and passionate and in the end 3 children and one young man decided to follow Jesus.
I visited there again during the aLn Gospel Event in July of 2010. I was amazed to see a church of over 100 people. No longer worshiping on the dirt but instead a church with a cement floor and many chairs.
I contacted Pastor Augustine in April of 2011 to see how the church had been growing. He is so excited to say that he now has a church of over 300 people. People are getting saved every sunday. some months they need to do 2 baptism services to accommodate all the people surrendering their lives to serve God.
